Performing Arts is one of the 3 niches of the school.
The 8 Performing Arts groups in school are mainly: · Symphonic Band · Choir · Chinese Orchestra · Chinese Drama · Dance Society · English Drama · Harp Ensemble · Guzheng Ensemble In particular, the Dance Society has been doing the school proud and is one of the largest CCAs in school, with more than 100 dancers in the society every year. |
Our Dance Society has also been asked to perform in many national and international events, like the Asian Youth Games (AYG) Opening Ceremony in 2009, Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Opening Ceremony in 2010, 3rd ASEAN School Games (ASG) Opening Ceremony in 2011, numerous National Day Parades and Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Opening Ceremonies through the years.
It has also clinched 22 Gold Awards in the SYF Central Judging Competitions so far and 2 Certificates of Distinction for the SYF Arts Presentation in 2013 in the International and Chinese Dance categories. In 2013, all the performance pieces clinched the Certificates of Distinction, the highest honour, for the SYF Arts Presentation held in the same year. |
To allow our budding artistes to express their love for the arts, celebrate the expression of creativity and growth attained by the performers as well as to evoke in students a greater interest in the arts, the Cultural Potpourri was started in 1998 on a biennial basis where students of all the Performing Arts groups had a chance to perform their pieces from the then Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging competition in a concert at the University Cultural Centre (UCC).
Since 2011, the Cultural Potpourri has been held once a year to encourage more participation in the Performing Arts. |
